The history of Washington includes thousands of years of indigenous American records since Europeans and Americans arrived and began to acknowledge territorial claims. The region was portion of Oregon Territory from 1848 to 1853, after which it was on bad terms from Oregon and customary as Washington Territory. In 1889, Washington became the 42nd give leave to enter of the United States.
